How to change oil and filter chevrolet 2006 HHR?

Well on the HHR and cobalt u change the filter 1st its accually located under the hood. Its on the right side infront of the head, and its a cartige style filter I dont remember the socket size off the top of my head to get it off but I think its 1 1/16 but dont quote me. After u get that off u replace the filter and reinstall. Then drain your oil underneath out of the oil pan and that is a 13 mm plug, reinstall plug. And the ecotec takes 5qts or 5w-30How to change oil and filter chevrolet 2006 HHR?Changing the oil and filter on any car is the same.

Check your owners manual for the recommended type and weight and amount of oil for your engine.

Using a drain pan to catch the oil remove the drain plug from the bottom of the oil pan using a ratchet with the correct sized socket.

Drain all of the old oil.

Once it is drained clean the drain plug and oil pan with a clean rag.

Replace drain plug and tighten, not to tight, but tight.

Remove the oil filter.

Clean the mating surface that the oil filter screws onto with your rag.

Take your new oil filter and using your finger tip coat the rubber seal on the new oil filter with clean motor oil.

Screw the new filter onto the engine, hand tighten, as tight as you can get it with your hands.

Next refill the engine with the correct number of quarts of motor oil.

Start the engine and make sure the oil light on the dash goes out.

With the engine running look under the car and check for leaks.

Turn the engine off.

Take your old oil and pour it into a empty gallon jug, empty washer fluid bottles work great for this.

Take your old oil filter and turn it upside down into your funnel that is in your empty used oil jug and drain the old oil out of the filter.

Double bag the oil filter in plastic store bags and throw away.

Take your used oil to a quick lube and have it recycled.

Tools you will need are automotive ramps, a drain pan, a filter wrench that fits your sized oil filter and a socket set and 2 funnels, one for clean oil and one for used oil.

I use 2 different colored funnels so I know that the blue one is for used oil and the red one is for clean oil.

If you buy the 5 qt jug of motor oil you can use that jug for your old oil.
