How to change oil filter on 2006 VW Jetta?

Not as easy as :Cody: says. Obviously hasn't done one. The screws are T25 Torx screws. Remove 8 of them, then remove the belly cover. Now you will see a black plastic oil filter housing on the front of the engine. Theres a small circular disc on the end, this is meant for a factory draining tool that screws into the end to drain the filter housing. if you don't have one, which i am sure you don't or you wouldn't be asking, you will end up making a mess. The housing requires a large oil filter cap wrench to remove, and i assume you wont have that either. So go get either the cap wrench to fit or a belt style oil filter wrench to remove the housing.

If you don't want to go purchase the tools needed, you should just take it in and spend less and save the mess. How to change oil filter on 2006 VW Jetta?just uncrew the oil like a light bulb and put a new one in
