How hard is it to change the oil on this car?

On a scale of 1 to 10 how hard is it to change the oil on a 2006 VW Passat? How hard is it to change the oil on this car?I would say more like a one.

You need something to catch it in. A socket or allen key for whichever sump plug your model has.

unscrew it and let it run into your catcher. Unscrew by hand or with a strap wrench, the oil filter. put the new filter on hand tight as hard as you can but first smearing the lip of the rubber ring stuck on the inner face of it, with new oil. when it's drained replace the plug fitting a new copper washer and tighten firmly. Using a funnel pour in 4 liters of new oil, checking with the dipstick after 10 minutes and topping up as required. Don't overfill. dispose of waste oil sensibly. Job done.

Just one further point some Passats have a plastic undertray beneath the engine . It's held in place with screws and clips. you must remove this to get at the sump plug and refit afterwards.

Same sequence applies to petrol or diesel.

What's up? did you just get a quote from VW to do it.How hard is it to change the oil on this car?Depends on how good you are with tools but from 1 thru 10 it's a 3How hard is it to change the oil on this car?id say like a 3.

but you need a special tool to drain the oil.
