How to change oil cooler lines on 1994 chevy extended cab pu?

one of the lines is bad, and leaks. my dad checked it out and looks simple until you get to where they go in by the oil filter. do you just stick them in there and they fit right in or is there more to it? thank youHow to change oil cooler lines on 1994 chevy extended cab pu?Like partyguard said, it's not a difficult job, but getting in there to do the work is the tough part. There's barely enough room to get to those nuts, let alone turn a wrench big enough to get on them.

My suggestion would be to unbolt the oil filter adapter from the engine block to get a little bit of room to work with since the inner hose is SO close to the oil pan. The only potential issue with doing it this way is that there are gaskets between the adapter and the block (1 o-ring and one paper gasket as I recall) that may or may not come off intact, so you may need to replace those but I think it's way easier than trying to get those lines disconnected and reconnected with so little room to work. How to change oil cooler lines on 1994 chevy extended cab pu?As a mechanic, if I wasn't sure how a part came off, I waited until I had the new part; then I could see how it connected. The cooler lines on your truck are pretty easy to do, and I think it's just 1 bolt holding the hoses on; it's between the 2 metal tubes, and bolts to the oil filter adapter. How to change oil cooler lines on 1994 chevy extended cab pu?I've done this job before a few times, and they are a little tricky to replace due to the limited amount of room to access the tube nuts at the end of the lines at the oil filter mounting. They are threaded in place; use wrench to unscrew them. Be careful at the oil cooler end of them...you don't want to damage the oil cooler. Use penetrating oil on stubborn connections. P B'laster works great. Good Luck!
