Can I go without changing my oil filter for 5k miles?

Can I skip changing it just this once? I changed it out 2 months ago, about 2k miles, and I cannot for the life of me figure out how to get it off, so can it wait another 3k miles so i can just take it somewhere and have them do it?Can I go without changing my oil filter for 5k miles?I thought I just answered this, but, again, lefty loosey-righty tighty. Changing the oil without the filter is pointless, the new oil is contaminated almost immediately. I would take it somewhere and let them do it. You'll have half a quart of dirty oil in the system, but most manufacturers recommend change intervals of a five to seven thousand miles now anyway. The 3,000 miles everybody uses is from grandpa's days when oil didn't last half as long as it does now.
