How to change Oil in a dirtbike?

I own a bike and people say after they race they always change the oil in their bike. I have a 96 250 2 stroke how do you drain it, fill it, and where is the filter. Are they talking about the tranny. How to change Oil in a dirtbike?Holy Cow! How long have you had a two cycle dirt bike? There's no crankcase oil to change young man. You either mix two cycle oil with the gas or it has oil injection. How to change Oil in a dirtbike?Country Boy is right. A two cycle engine does not have an oil sump. Why don't you ask the people who say they always change the oil in their bike what oil they are talking about.

Each how many KM I have to change my car oil & filter ?

About 3,000 miles (or about 5,000 KM) - or at least every 3 to 6 months.

A lot of it has to do with your driving style. If you do a lot of hwy driving, then you can probably with more mileage (but not more months). If you rarely drive, then you can probably go with more months

The stop and go traffic are probably the worst for engine life.

Good luck.......Each how many KM I have to change my car oil %26amp; filter ?Both every 3k miles.

Has anyone ever changed the transmission oil filter on a 05 Nissan Sentra S 1.8?

I own this car and I tried changing it's automatic transmission oil filter. I was able to drain and remove the pan. I got all the bolts out of the filter, except for one. This one bolt was near the driver's side. I could spin it clockwise or counter-clock wise, but it didn't seem to loosen or tighten. I took it to a jiffy lube, and they too were unable to remove the filter, due to the same bolt. Can anyone tell me, how to remove this bolt?Has anyone ever changed the transmission oil filter on a 05 Nissan Sentra S 1.8?WOW. that bolt has a 10mm nut and washer on top of the valve body. That nut is just spining. I have to worry about just why you thought you needed to change the filter screen. Many Sentras get by with just regular trans drain and fill. DRIP drip DRIP Good LuckHas anyone ever changed the transmission oil filter on a 05 Nissan Sentra S 1.8?How bad can it be to go through all that trouble,if your tranny has a problem and it has to be removed then you can take it out, otherwise I would not bother about it,just change the fluid.

  • Auto Trans Fluid and Filter-When to change?

I bought a 1999 Corolla 4 months ago at 46K miles, this car now has 52K miles. The only service records I was given show regular oil changes. At what mileage should I get the Automatic trans. fluid and filter changed?

(I don't suspect anything wrong, I just want to do all the needed maintenance on schedule. I may keep this car for many, many years. Trans. shifts great, and fluid level stays right where it is supposed to be)

I have the owner's manual, but it does not tell at how many miles it should be changed.Auto Trans Fluid and Filter-When to change?I have over 20 years experience in the automatic transmission arena and I agree with the other respondents that the fluid and filter should be changed every 30 to 50000 miles. However, I caution you not to be taken in by a shop offering to flush your transmission. The important thing in transmission maintenance is the replacement of the filter and flushing does not remove all contamination from the system.Auto Trans Fluid and Filter-When to change?call the dealer under the guise of wanting to make a service appointment.Auto Trans Fluid and Filter-When to change?35,000Auto Trans Fluid and Filter-When to change?Every 30,000 milesAuto Trans Fluid and Filter-When to change?I think as a general rule, it should be done at 50K. How to change car oil?

I have a 1996 ford fiesta manuel drive.

I have my doubts about where two find the oil sump, im worried incase i drian the tranmission fuel sump by mistake. Also, whats the best advice for change the oil and the oil filter? How to change car oil?after reading your question i have to say....please take it to a garage and spend the $30. How to change car oil?The engine oil sump from where you want to drain the existing engine oil is located directly below the engine block. The drain plug is located at the lowest point of this oil sump

Remove this plug to drain the engine oil onto a container, and re-install the drain plug after that

Re-fill with engine flushing oil, and drive around until the engine is warmed up to normal temperature. Drain off this engine flushing oil, as well, and fix the drain plug back (make sure there is a gasket, if not make a customised one)

Remove the engine oil filter and install new engine oil filter. Re-fill with new engine oil (remember to use the right viscosity grade)

Test drive the car until the engine is warmed up to normal temperature

    Park and check for oil leakage below the car (any leakage need to be rectified immediately before any long distance driving) How to change car oil?1.Un-do sump plug on %26quot;The Sump%26quot;

    2.Drain oil into a bucket.

3.Take washer from sump plug and replace with new 1 provided.

    4.Un-do oil filter located on front or back of engine near %26quot;The Sump%26quot;

    5.Drain oil into bucket.

6.Clean exsess oil away so its clean.

7.Lubricate rubber oil seal on oil filter.

    8.Re-screw oil filter correctly.

9.Replace sump plug to correct Tourque setting normally 15-20NM.

10.Re-fill oil with correct oil grade in car manual.

    --------------------------------------?br>
Its so easy its unbelivable, I suggest if you dont know how to do it, go to a garage so they can do it properly, you can have all sorts of problems if you mess this up.How to change car oil?The oil drain plug is located at the underneath of the car. It's a hex nut, pretty much close to the front. You won't miss it. It's a simple as undo the nut and drain out the oil. To replace the oil filter is a bit messy. You need an oil wrench to do the job.

Changing oil yourself is a fun job. You know what you put in and know what your oil looks like after 3000 miles. How to change car oil?the engine drain plug will be under the engine, and the drain plug for the tranny will be on the base of the tranny. Allthough I belive it is front wheel drive and will have a transaxle. My advice would be to locate both plugs or just got to the jiffy lube. You only save a few bucks changing the oil yourself.

Also dont forget the oil filter. A clogged oil filter can cause all sorts of damage. How to change car oil?its simple, on the bottom part of the engine is a big bit of metal, which also looks very hevay!!! - it is!!, - at the back of this big of heavy metal is the drain valve, it will look like a bit like a bolt, - it is!!!, in fact its a 13mm bolt!, unloosen this and all your oil comes out!!!, to put it back in use the dipstick on top of the engine, but remember to put the bolt in first!!!, simple as that, changing the oil filter, however,is another story!!!How to change car oil? This is very simple to do and find. your gonna wanna look for the oil pan that has the oil filter closest to it. when you find that get something to put your oil in. take of the bolt and drain the oil in what you are putting it in. after about 2 mins. take off the oil filter and drain and throw it out. after the oil is all gone put the bolt back on. Then get you new oil filter and get some old oil on the tip of your finger and rub it around the filter's seal. screw it on. then fill it up with your choice oil until it is at the right fill level. Dont worry if you do accidently drain the trans oil. its not gonna hurt it as long as you put new trans oil in. I would say that the best and cheapest oil filter is a Fram and get some gastrol gtx.How to change car oil?Changing oil is a messy job and not worth saving a few bucks by doing it yourself. There are shops that will do it fairly cheap. Be sure %26amp; have the oil filter changed too. It often takes a high quality oil filter removal tool. I change my oil %26amp; filter every 5,000 miles or so.How to change car oil?Okay, it's a lot simpler to show you than try to describe it. Get a mechanic to do it for you and ask if you can watch for future reference - this may not be possible in some garages as you aren't allowed in the workshop for H%26amp;S reasons. Or get yourself a Haynes manual. How to change car oil?Do yourself a favor and have it done at a shop. They will take care of the used oil and filter and insure the work is done right. How long does synthetic oil last?

I put some synthetic oil in my car a while back and a family member that knows a lot about cars said it would be safe to go 10-15 thousand miles. Is this true? Don't I need to change my oil filter more often than that? How long does synthetic oil last?First and foremost, oil is cheap, engines are not. Never wait that long to change your oil. A big part of it is what kind of driving you do. IF you do alot of short trips and dont fully burn the condensation out of the oil, thats when you start running into problems. If your trips are only about 15 minutes then you should stick to 3000 miles but you could push it a little more if needed. I guess it depends on how long you keep the car. IF you are going to run it into the ground, change the oil every 3 to 4k miles or 4 months which ever comes first but if you are going to trade it off in a year or a couple years, dont worry about letting it get 5k or above miles on an oil change. The most important thing is just to make sure that you have the correct amount of oil in it and not low at all. Its easy to lose a quart or more of oil in 5k miles or more. How long does synthetic oil last?Thank you for the information. I liked in particular your comment:oil is cheap, engines are not!Can find so many applications.

How long does synthetic oil last? There is a lot of debate over the oil change interval, which is now up to 15,000. First there is no argument that a synthetic oil can run longer between oil changes. But how long do you keep a synthetic in you engine, there is no simple answer but if you ask me (and i do this for a living) i'll tell you 6,000miles. while letting your oil go too long can do serious damage, you can't hurt your motor by changing oil frequently. Regardless of how often you change oil you should check its level and top it off with every fill up.

How much oil can you add to you vehicle befor needing a new oil filter?

my car has a constant oil leak and i need to put a quart in it every 2 weeks. how many quarts can i get befor needing to change filter? How much oil can you add to you vehicle befor needing a new oil filter?that is a pretty good oil leak. self changing oil lol. but anyways, there probably is not a precise oil fiilter change interval for major oil leaks. i would say to still change it the normal 3000 miles or so. some people think that is to often but i always say oil is cheaper than engines. as far as the oil leak. with the price of oil these days (here it averages 4.00 per qt.) is it a leak that could be repaired with minimum to moderate charges.......How much oil can you add to you vehicle befor needing a new oil filter? If you are using Synthetic Oil, then you have to change both oil and oil filter every 15000 miles. If you are using regular oil, then you have to change both oil and oil filter every 3000 miles. You might actually want to get your oil leak fixed, though depending on where the leak actually is, it can become an expensive repair. How much oil can you add to you vehicle befor needing a new oil filter?adding oil doesn't change the fact that your filter is clogged. once the filter is clogged, the oil will get more and more dirty and do more and more damage to your engine. new oil added to dirty oil becomes dirty oil. change the filter every 3000 - 4000 miles no matter how much oil you add in between. How much oil can you add to you vehicle befor needing a new oil filter? What Amar D said......and rotate your tires every other oil change. How much oil can you add to you vehicle befor needing a new oil filter? That's a bad leak, change the filter every 3000 miles or 3 months. And when you do add a quart of Lucas (you can find it at many auto part stores) It will help slow the leak. How much oil can you add to you vehicle befor needing a new oil filter? One: You really need to get that oil leak checked out. Even if it's just a bad seal, it needs repaired. Look to see if there's oil in your antifreeze, if this is where your oil is going then there's a good chance your head gasket is blown.

Two: You should change the filter on the same intervals as an oil change; 3 months or 3,000 miles

What kind of oil and how much oil do I put in a john deere riding mower?

I have a john deere 48 inch cut riding mower and I am wondering how much oil that I need to put in it and what kind of oil do I use? How do I change the oil filter also? What kind of oil and how much oil do I put in a john deere riding mower? It should have recommended type of oil in the owners manual... I know UI don't keep mine around either. You could try looking at the John Deere website or calling a reputable lawn mower repair place. If all else fails go for straight 30 it will say SAE 30 on the bottle.

As far as how much.. it should have a dipstick or if the filler hole is low on the crankcase it will be to the top of the filler hole.

Oil filter... It may not have an oil filter on it. Usually less than 20 HP doesn't. If it does you'll see a cylinder a little larger than can on the side of the engine. Mine, a craftsman is on the left side toward the back of the engine. Turn it left-loose, and after a few turns it will drop off. What kind of oil and how much oil do I put in a john deere riding mower? If it isn't going to be exposed to or started in temperatures below 0 degrees F, use a standard 30 weight (30w) motor oil. If it is going to be exposed to cold temperatures, use a 10w-30 motor oil. For the amount, check the instruction manual. Or, fill it and check the level with the dipstick. Do not overfill it, as this can cause excessive oil pressure and oil blow-by in the cylinder.

As for how to change the oil filter, also check the manual. Look on line for your particular model if you don't have the manual. Most companies have PDFs of their documentation on their websites these days. What kind of oil and how much oil do I put in a john deere riding mower?Look at your manual or check with the engine manufacture. The latest oil out has an API rating of SM. Most manufactures recommend SJ. SM has less zinc and phosphorus. These are critical to small engines. They are being removed from motor oils due to harming the cat converter. Be sure of what you are putting in it.

How many miles on synthetic oil in Acura 1993 Legend?

    Hi,

I have a Acura 1993 Legend Suden 3.2 Liter, V6 . I have 190,000 miles on it. I normally put GTX 10W-40 oil and change every 3500 miles. i drive 2200 miles a month. This is pain ... to change oil every 2nd month. I heared that by switching to Synthetic Oil you dont need to change oil for longer period of time.

Now i am goin to buy a Synthtic oil; its not expesive just $10 more than normal oil around $25.

After how many Miles should i change the oil???????

Does Oil filter matter too if u run your car for longer miles??

    Thanks in advance

waitin for replyHow many miles on synthetic oil in Acura 1993 Legend?Hi Leo,I have exclusively used synthetic oil Mobil 1) in both of my Nissanp/ups that I've owned.I sold one truck w/309,oo and my other is at 170,000+.I use the Mobil 1 super syn, which states a change interval of 15,000 miles.I put on usually about 29 to 35 thousand miles a year, highway and local, since I am an Electrician.I idle a lot too. This oil works great, but I make sure that I change the filter every 5,000 miles because the if the filter is dirty, the oil will bypass the filtering element inside. However, this oil is great for cold weather starts. Also, make sure you check the oil just to make sure you aren't burning any.I generally use a quart every 6,000 miles but you may use less or more.Sometimes it's easy to forget about your oil when you dont change it for 15,000 so be vigilant.Good luck. How many miles on synthetic oil in Acura 1993 Legend?around 5000 miles, at least thats the best for a old car...

Mobil one is what most people uses. How many miles on synthetic oil in Acura 1993 Legend?if using mobil 1 u can get 15000 but with an old car like your i would go 10,000 miles wich is more then 3x regular oil.How many miles on synthetic oil in Acura 1993 Legend?I think they say 10 -15,000 miles. I believe the oil is good for that long, synthetic doesn't break down. However one reason to do regular oil changes is to keep your engine clean. I wish some one would explain to me what happens to all that dirt that builds up in the oil, maybe it's best to change the filter every month? How many miles on synthetic oil in Acura 1993 Legend?Your mileage is going to depend on several factors.

    - does you engine oil get warm enough to boil off any condensed water in the oil pan? (probably yes, since you drive 2200 miles / month which is a lot of miles)

    - do you drive a lot of start and stop miles, or mostly highway miles? (start and stop, like taxi service is hard on an engine)

    - has your engine ever been rebuilt, and how many miles on the engine since the rebuild?

    - do you drive in dusty areas, and change the air filter every 12 months?

    - what is the condition of your bearings

I have a BMW 3 series with has 96K miles, and I have used synthetic oil in it exclusively. The engine computer measures the driving cycle, oil temperature and other factors and calculates the miles between oil changes continuously. Initially, it was 15,000 miles, but it is now down to about 13 or 14K miles.

You might want to switch to a synthetic oil and change it at 10K miles, but also use an engine oil analysis service to assess the quality of your oil at the 10K mile interval. ExxonMobil (mfr of Mobil1 synthetic oil) offers an oil analysis service with an online posting of the results for only $14 per use. See the link below for more info on ExxGard oil analysis. How many miles on synthetic oil in Acura 1993 Legend?Synthetic oil gets dirty just as fast as regular oil and that is why you change the oil in the first place, not because it wears out. Don't believe all that BS marketing hype.

On a car with as many miles as yours though I would not recommend switching to a full-synthetic oil. It may cause problems.

ASE Certified Automotive Service AdvisorHow many miles on synthetic oil in Acura 1993 Legend?190,000 for an Acura is not a lot of miles. Switching to a synthetic oil can improve the performance of the engine because it gets better viscosity than regular oil meaning it does not break down as fast. I recommend Valvoline because it has an oil that is geared toward engines with high mil age. Quaker State also has a good synthetic oil for engines with high miles. The key is to protect the block as well as the seals and the bearings. A good oil and frequent oil changes should allow for close to 300,000 miles. Now depending on your driving habits,(stop and go traffic is murder on a car) you should be able to stretch about 5000 miles between oil chances. But I would consult with a mechanic that work specifically on Acuras to be safe. How many miles on synthetic oil in Acura 1993 Legend?Leo, if you put a full synthetic oil in a high mileage vehicle you will be inviting unwanted guests to your party, synthetics have much smaller molecules than petroleum oils, on an engine with 190,000 miles of wear you will probably end up with an oil leaking pig, my recommendation, don't go there at this mileage.

I understand that it is a pain to get to the oil filter, apparently located under the exhaust manifold. Is this a job that requires crawling under the car or can the filter be reached from the hood area?

Also, are there any issues getting to the oil drain plug on this car?

Are there any components that need to be removed like a shroud? How to change the Oil on a 2007 Camry V-6?Yes there is a plastic stone guard that has to come off. Access to the oil filter is underneath and it is quite easy once the stone guard is removed. Use a proper filter wrench to remove it but hand tighten ONLY firmly with a little oil smeared on the rubber seal. The sump plug (19 mm) is easy, use a new washer and don't overtighten. Fill the engine slowly or it will spit back through the filler, avoid over filling. How often to change oil on car that sits?

I live in SE Pa. I have a street/strip race car that sits most of the time. Probably only put about 1,200 miles on it in the last year. Most of the winter it sat. I have driven it a few times since it got nice out. The oil that is in it probably only has about 500 miles on it but its been in there all winter, since November. The oil still looks golden but is well over the 3 month change interval. However I feel like I may be wasting the oil. Should I change it or should I be ok ? Each time I have driven the car I have let it reach operating temperature and even gotten on it alittle bit. The filter was changed with the oil. I would like to change my own oil but my car is to low?

I dont trust these oil change places they always fill my car half a quart low and my car leaks at as it is. Plus they use cheap oil and filter. I have a minivan how can i get under there. Should i buy a jack and two stands? Is it worth it when it comes to the security factor associated with this? I have the oil change bin thing.I would like to change my own oil but my car is to low?Bulk oil of the wrong weight and crappy filters are the least of your worries at oil change shops. I can't count the number of cross threaded and stripped drain plugs I've seen from these places.

A set of ramps are less expensive than a jack and stands, and easier for most do-it-your-self-ers to use.

And if you do the math on synthetic oil, it just doesn't make sense. Regular oil is fine if changed regularly.I would like to change my own oil but my car is to low?I don't blame you for your mistrust of quicky lubes. What I do is buy my OWN oil and filter, and then pay a quicky lube $10-15 to change it for me. This way, there is no muss, fuss, or dripping oil to clean. And i have the security of knowing that my engine has NO bulk, generic oil in it to create sludge. If I were you, I would use only Mobil One in the 0W series. You will save money on gas, since it is more fuel efficient. Use Seafoam first, to dislodge any sludge already formed!! If you are lucky, you can make a friendship with the oil change center, and they will look forward to seeing you, as they get a little bonus when you arrive!I would like to change my own oil but my car is to low?you could do that, or just buy a set of car ramps... ramps would be cheaper but less usable in the future...

or you could use the original jack to change the tires, and use a couple thick ( at least a foot round really) blocks of wood

for the sludge part... no need to spend $50 on a gallon of oil... if you look up where the oil companies all get the oil from you will see its all the same place... regular oil changes themselves will keep sludge at bay.

dont buy the cheapest either, i usually find a mid range brand thats on sale and use that.... and with 400+k kms on my truck its worked fineI would like to change my own oil but my car is to low?the reason its a half a quart low is because they fill it to the line without starting the engine after the engine is started and the oil pumps through the motor about a half a quart doesnt return to the pan it stays in the engine and oil filter, so that solves that but a nice set of ramps would be the best choice of action then simply change your own oil, you will notice it being a half a quart low too, just make sure you put all the oil in that is suppose to be in, and you will be fine

How do you change the oil in a 04 saab 9 3?

I also need to know where the oil filter is on this car. Anyone? How do you change the oil in a 04 saab 9 3?ignore everyone else. I'm always happy to help out a fellow Saab-er! The oil filter is on the driver's side of the engine, near the radiator, under a plastic cover. If you have any other saab questions, search the bulletin boards at saabnet! Good luck!

Basically, 1) drain the oil, replace the drain plug. 2) change the filter. 3) add new oil!

To get to the filter you need to remove the big plastic cover on top of the engine. It is very easy to remove, there are 3 screws and it just pulls up. Look to the right underneath the intake and you will see a black plastic round cover on the engine block. need the 32 mm or 1 1/4 inch wrench to remove that.

Hints: remove the oil filter first to allow the oil to drain into the pan so you get all the old oil out.

ONLY use Mobil 1. Do not use any other kind of oil. Saab ONLY recommends Mobil 1, so stick to it.

I was wondering how to change oil for my boat?

it has a 3.8 omc v6 inboard I see the oil filter but no oil plug can anyone help meI was wondering how to change oil for my boat?Changing oil on a boat varies with the engine make and model, but most involve pumping (sucking) the oil out of the oil pan. On Mercruser motors you'll notice a threaded hose connection on the dipstick. Other engines have a %26quot;drain tube%26quot; connected where the drain plug would be. Some depend on a hose small enough to go down the dip stick and into the oil sump. There are several common things. Run the engine until it's up to normal temp. before you change the oil. Keep rack of how high the oil was on the dip stick, and how much oil you actually pumped out. When you put the new oil in, put in say 3 qts. then check the dipstick often as you add more. Don't over fill and then check the engine after your first run. Remove and replace the filter but be careful that the old gasket comes off with the old filter. Compare the filter to make sure it's the same. Tighten it according to instructions and check it for leaks after running the engine. I recommend changing the oil once per season, at the end of the year. That way old contaminated oil doesn't sit in the engine for months during the off season. I also believe in synthetic oil for boats 20 W 50 . Good Luck!!!!!I was wondering how to change oil for my boat? You can get the tool to suck the oil out of the dipstick tube. Most marine dealers will sell them. Harbor freight sells them as well.I was wondering how to change oil for my boat?I use the %26quot;Oil Boy%26quot;, it has a 5 quart capacity and easily sucks the oil out right thru the dipstick.

How do you change the oil on a Mercedes Benz 560 SEL?

I know where the oil filter is on the car I'm just not sure how to go about changing the oil itself... I don't know/can't tell where the used oil is supposed to drain out. If anyone can provide a little insight on this for me it would be much appreciated! Thanks! How do you change the oil on a Mercedes Benz 560 SEL?there is a drain plug at the bottom of the oil pan. just raise the car, remove the black plastic cover (belly pan), and remove the drain plug. make sure you have a oil change container for the old oil. make sure the container holds at least 10 liters, because you will get around 8 liters of old oil out. while the oil is draining you can remove the oil filter. remember to replace the oil filter cap o-ring and drain plug washer. they should come with the new oil filter kit. remember drain old oil after car has been warmed up so it drains faster/better.

or you could also buy a oil suction device and suck the old oil out via the dipstick tube. this way is easier, no mess, and no need to get under the car. oil suction device i use is called %26quot;topsider%26quot; and you can find it online, search for %26quot;oil suction topsider%26quot;. good luckHow do you change the oil on a Mercedes Benz 560 SEL?buy a workshop manual trying to do it without instructions could wreck the car, better still let a dealer do it

Oil change at Jiffy lube killed my engine in just 10-miles drive! They say they will take care of repair?

I just drove 10 miles after the oil change and the oil filter fell off, when i was on highway. I pulled-off %26amp; checked my engine to see that there was no oil left. My engine got locked out!

I reported to the Jiffy lube %26amp; customer service person says that they will take care of the repair. Means, they will replace my engine with a used engine.

What would be the best resolution at this point?

I do not want to let them put some engine in my car and escape from what they had done. How can i rely on a used engine that they put in? My car was a well maintained 2000 Toyota Corolla.

Should i go to small claims court %26amp; get a compensation for the car rather than going for replacing the engine? I dont know how it will work out and how long it would take. I dont have any contacts with a lawyer to take legal views etc.

In the meantime, you will have to get other transportation like a rental and add the cost of that to your compensation. Why not speak to a lawyer or legal company that won't necessarily charge you for just inquiring if you have a good case?

If you don't want their version of compensation, then going with a lawyer is your best bet.

It had been sitting there for six weeks and they had heard nothing from the parent company of Jiffy Lube which is Pennzoil. Be sure to fill out a claim and demand the work be done at your local Toyota dealer. If I were you I'd haunt Jiffy Lube for a car rental while yours is in the shop. If they move like a proverbial turtle spend a few bucks on an attorney to make some calls and find out exactly what you as a consumer has as far as rights go.

  • How often should oil filters be changed?

I just changed the oil for my 1994 Toyota Camry without changing the oil filter.

Some mechanics I've talked to say that it should be changed with the oil every time. Others say that it's OK if it's done every other time. Other folks say that it really doesn't matter. How often should oil filters be changed?Every oil change... What is the point of putting new oil through a dirty filter??How often should oil filters be changed?Every time, the reason being this...as its used up and gunk and other debris builds up in it, more and more oil is bypassing it, and once completely filled up with gunk, it is no longer filtering this stuff out, so this stuff is going into your engine, your cylinder walls are being scratched, your oil is basically contaminated, giving your engine a shorter life and worse gas mileage. My suggest would be to change it all all over again and when you redo the oil, put in a can of %26quot;Restore%26quot; (silver can in the oil section) to help fix all the scratches. How often should oil filters be changed?Every time for best results. For a 94, depending on the mileage, you may want to use high mileage oil. Usually you should change it every 3K miles, but if you use a synthetic oil, you can go a little longer, between 4K and 5K miles. But I would change the filter every time. How often should oil filters be changed? You should cahnge it with every oil change. Particulate matter can build up in your filter. If it builds up enough it will slow/ stop the flow of oil to your vital engine components. Besides it's a cheap investment to make sure your camry runs as long as it should. How often should oil filters be changed?on some new cars every other, but very specific models only

Problem with an oil change on a Buell Blast 2001...?

I've never changed the oil on anything before so if there's something you're not thinking of because it would be too obvious, please still mention it.

I drained the oil (I was showed how by a mechanic at HD briefly), changed the oil filter, and added oil. However, I added a bit too much oil and decided to deal with this problem the next morning.

When I woke up, a forgot to drain the extra oil so I did that, however, I first attempted to start the bike (because I forgot) and it wouldn't start. I couldn't drain all the extra oil either, I'm guessing since the oil isn't warm, it's not coming out that quickly.

Anyway, my bike won't start anymore. I ONLY touched things to do with the oil. When I turn the bike to ON, the lights come on, but when I try to start it, the lights dim a bit and it whines and won't start. Usually the oil light comes on when it's not started, but now after attempting to start it, it permanently turns off until I turn the bike off and on again.

Any thoughts?Problem with an oil change on a Buell Blast 2001...?open both drain plug and fill plug to let air in then put right amount in . pull spark plugs out and clean they could be oil soaked. make sure you turn the gas on. you could put a teaspoon of gas in each cylinder. before putting spark plugs back in good luck

How often should synthetic oil be changed?

I've been using synthetic oil in an '07 Tacoma for 3,000 miles. I know that it does not break down as quickly as conventional oil and does not need to be changed as frequently. My plan is to change the oil filter every 3,000 to 5,000 miles. How often should you change the actual synthetic oil? I have heard anywhere from 10,000 to 25,000.How often should synthetic oil be changed?I would change the oil and filter at 6,000 miles. How often should synthetic oil be changed? That sounds about right ,some even claim 30,000 miles.

Now here is something to think about, the Oil Filter still gets contaminated %26amp; dirty at the same rate.

Just my opinion, still change the Oil Filter every 3000 miles and top it off with Synthetic Oil when you do...

When the oil starts getting too dark, change it.

How much oil does a 1964 Ford F100 Pickup need in an oil change?

I just got a 1964 Ford F100 Pickup truck. Runs great but of course I want to give it an oil change. Already changed all the filters (except oil filter).

I don't know how much oil it will need for an oil change. If someone can tell me and give solid reference to a reputable place, I would greatly appreciate it! I also need to know WHAT KIND of oil to use also.

Some notes: If I'm not mistaken, its a 305 V8 or something along those lines. I'm not sure how to find out this info, I was told 305 by the previous owner. How much oil does a 1964 Ford F100 Pickup need in an oil change?Between 4 and 5 quarts of 10W40 will get the job done. How much oil does a 1964 Ford F100 Pickup need in an oil change?i WOULD LOOK AT THE MANUAL IT HAS IT LISTED IF LOSTED LOOK IT UP ON THE INTERANATHow much oil does a 1964 Ford F100 Pickup need in an oil change?Depends on the weather conditions - hot or cold weather-- Mileage on engine - normally 5 Qts. with a filter change..type of driving - highway - round town..How much oil does a 1964 Ford F100 Pickup need in an oil change? The oil capacity of most automobile and light truck engines from the 60's was five (5) quarts including the filter. If you are a little unsure, then I suggest that you remove and replace the filter, put in four (4) quarts of oil, run the engine for a few minutes to circulate the oil and then check the oil level on the dipstick. You will probably notice that you are low by about a quart. Add enough oil to bring the level up to the %26quot;full%26quot; mark on the dipstick.

By the way, the 302 engine was not available in 1964. If the truck had a V8, then it was probably a 260 or a 352. These engines are relatively easy to identify and tell apart; but in any event, they both probably only use five quarts with a filter change. How much oil does a 1964 Ford F100 Pickup need in an oil change? If it's a 302 Ford engine, it's been transplanted into the truck since it wasn't introduced until '67. The 305 is a SB Chevy engine.

If it's an original FE block, it's most likely a 352. Take a look at the intake manifold and see if it bolts to the heads under the valve covers - if so, it's an FE engine. I think the best thing for you to do is to find a mechanic who is familiar with the early Ford engines and ask him to take a look. A truck that

old may have had several owners and an equal number of modifications.

It sounds like a fun ride - good luck. How much oil does a 1964 Ford F100 Pickup need in an oil change?Five quarts. If it is the original engine it is a 292, an easy way to tell is look at the exhaust manifolds. If they are connected together with a pipe that runs across the front of the engine, it is a 292 (or possibly a 312).How much oil does a 1964 Ford F100 Pickup need in an oil change?a 305 is a chevy engine, its probably a 302, they put alot of 302s in vehicles back then and still do today. ok, about your oil. it probably takes at least 5 or 6 qts. with a new filter. about the oil, they are many types of good oil on the market, but quaker state is not 1 of them. myself, i have always used pennzoil 10w30 and never had a problem once with it, but also vavoline is good, havoline isnt a bad oil either. How much oil does a 1964 Ford F100 Pickup need in an oil change?got to autozone.com But It should take 6 quarts of oil with filter change. http://www.autozone.com/Action,specsSele

I bought a used car. After an oil change I found it has less than 3 quarts of oil, what should I Do?

I bought the car from a dealership 3 months ago. When I asked about the service I was told that it had been completely serviced before they sold it to me. I took it to get an oil change today where I learned that it had about 3 quarts of oil (4.5 filled it), an oil leak and that the oil filter had not been changed in almost a year. I also have pretty good evidence that the last oil change was probably in september of 2006. So, not only was I lied to (Typical car sales people), but there's no telling how long this has been the case, or what damage has been done while I drove thinking everything was fine. My first reaction is to be mad since I am paying my hard earned money for this thing. I want to return the car since I don't know what shape it is really in. But I highly doubt that they would just let me out of the loan without a fight (Lawyer). So, how should I approach this when I go in to confront them about it? And what should I ask for? ThanksI bought a used car. After an oil change I found it has less than 3 quarts of oil, what should I Do?You bought the car %26quot;as-is%26quot;..... should've asked for service records or had it inspected by a mechanic first. But you didn't so it's your own fault.

What is your damage? You %26quot;THINK%26quot; something's wrong but the car is running fine so you need to move on.I bought a used car. After an oil change I found it has less than 3 quarts of oil, what should I Do?Return to the dealer ship and ask to see when they serviced that car, Don,t tell them what you know and don,t get mad yet, be nice Until you find out the truth and then be tactful with your knowledge know more than they do check everything, wright it down and don,t leave anything un inspected . You might get the dealership to do more for you when you have the advantage, hope this helpsI bought a used car. After an oil change I found it has less than 3 quarts of oil, what should I Do?Ask for the person in charge.Tell them what you found. Then ask for a engine warrenty in case of early problems. If they say no to the warrenty talk to a good lawyer.I bought a used car. After an oil change I found it has less than 3 quarts of oil, what should I Do?A used car is sold %26quot;as is%26quot;. You state the car has an oil leak, could be where that quart and one half went. Also, if you got the car three months ago, and this is the first time you have opened the hood and checked anything, you are looking for trouble. Regular maintenance will save you thousands. You could have replaced the lost oil had you checked the fluids two months ago. You have no grounds to approach the dealership, and will be a waste of your time and effort. Use it as a learning experience, and move on, it's not worth it. Good luck.

How can i restore horsepower to my 1995 chevy 4.3 v6 on a budget? i've changed the oil/air filter.?

I purchased it a few months ago as a work truck. It had 104,000 + miles on it when I bought it. I've replaced the air and oil filters, changed the oil, I also like using the Lucas fuel treatment cleaner in my fuel. I prefer to use 92 octane only because of the year and mileage. I'm in the process of changing the spark plugs and fuel filter within the next day or so. I was also thinking about installing a cold/mass air induction system with a 1%26quot; throttle body spacer for a better performance. Any input would be helpful to lead me in the right direction. Thank you! Happy Fourth!!!How can i restore horsepower to my 1995 chevy 4.3 v6 on a budget? i've changed the oil/air filter.?sounds good so far..maybe pcv valve or high performance spark plug wires

2002 F250 Triton 5.4L v8 Oil Change and Maintenance Questions?

I just bought a used 2002 F250 XL 5.4L V8 4x4 with 186,000 miles. Unfortunately it did not come with owners manual and I have NEVER owned a truck before. The seller was a truck dealer so he does not know about any previous maintenance history of the truck. But I will try to get the previous owner's info and contact him to get more info on the truck. In the meantime, I would like to get some answers to the following questions:

    1) How many quarts of oil does it require with oil filter being replaced?

    2) What oil grade / viscosity?

    3) Can I use synthetic or should I just get conventional high mileage oil? If you can recommend a particular brand and type of oil for this high mileage truck, please do so.

    4) What oil filter brand and model should I get?

    5) What other things should I change or check on this truck?

    6) Should I change the transmission oil? If so, what do I need? Oil , filter, etc???

    7) Should I change rear differential oil? If so, what do I need? Oil , filter, etc???

    8) Should I change the fuel filter?

Thank you in advance.2002 F250 Triton 5.4L v8 Oil Change and Maintenance Questions?1) 6.1 quarts

    2) 5W-20 (You can use 0W-20 in full synthetic)

    3) Full synthetic is the best choice for any vehicle regardless of mileage, AMSOIL 0W-20 will keep your truck at optimum performance for many, many years.

    4) AMSOIL Absolute Efficiency Series if you decide to use full synthetic oil, they are designed to be used in conjunction with AMSOIL Synthetic Oils for extended drain intervals (up to 35,000 miles).

    5) Make sure the truck has had the speed control wire harness update performed (at no cost to you by your local Ford dealer), it is part of a massive recall on Ford vehicles and can result in the vehicle catching on fire if not replaced.

    6) Yes, assuming you have the 4R100 automatic transmission, AMSOIL Synthetic Universal Automatic Transmission Fluid is an excellent choice along with the WIX brand filter (WIX Model #58968).

    7) Yes, but without knowing your specific rear differential it is either 75W-140 or 75W-90. Your front differential is most likely 75W-90. AMSOIL also produces synthetic gear oil for these applications.

    8) Yes, the fuel filter is generally changed every 25,000 miles.

How much over the oil fill mark is safe?

I just had my Lincol Zepheyr oil and filter changed, and when I went to a local parking lot I didnt notice any drips of oil under the car so I know the plug was tightened and the filter also, how ever when I pulled out the dip stick it was about a little over a quarter of an inch on the fill line, is this OK or should about a half quart taken out, I really dont like to go back to those quick change oil places? thanks if anyone knowsHow much over the oil fill mark is safe? It's difficult to say for sure if this is too high or not. The critical point is if it's high enough for the crankshaft to hit the oil as it rotates. If this happens, the oil will become aerated, and it's lubricating ability would be compromised. Inadequate oil pressure would result. So if you want to take a chance on your engine being ruined, just to avoid going back to the %26quot;quick change oil place%26quot; you shouldn't have taken it to the first place, feel free to leave it the way it is, and I'm sure that a real mechanic will be happy to replace your engine for a few thousand dollars, if need be.How much over the oil fill mark is safe?you will be ok a quarter of an inch on the stick is not very much just an estimate about a third of a quart to a half there is plenty of room for that in the engine if you see drips under it then its to much but I think your fineHow much over the oil fill mark is safe?if its only a lil over it will be fine. if its over a quart over it will need to be drained because that would be too much pressure for your oil pumpHow much over the oil fill mark is safe? That's a good Question and worthy of some understanding. When you put oil in the reservoir of your car which is a low pressure area at roughly up to about 15-25psi the object is to lubricate and cool the mechanical surfaces within the cam shaft area as well as siphoning the oil up rods to spill out on the head plane so your moving surfaces have a long life. It is really a complicated piece of machinery so anything you can do to maintain optimal slip will prolong your engines life. While some people may disagree on how much is too much having too little is far worse. If you are about a half quart above the line it probably will not affect the engine in any bad way after all when the engine is on it is sucking and churning the oil on all the surfaces it can.The only way to be sure of whether it is too much is to check the engine pressure%26gt; I once got a car from a woman that had 5 quarts too much oil and you might ask how that was so but it all does with being in a foreign country and not speaking the language.I drained the oil and could not believe my eyes this did cause engine problems. I don't think you have anything to worry about but make sure they stick closer to the actual capacity limit because with today's faster and hotter burning engines it may cause premature failure of seals down the road but i think you will be ok till next oil change. something that i do to make sure of good engine slip is to once a year add a quart of super slippery oil like slick 50 and this will at least give you an edge in the event you have low pressure oil situation. So don't worry so much it will be fine but just watch the place you have it done at If it does bother you it would take a moment for it to be sucked back out %26quot; the way they probably changed it anyway%26quot; at the place that did it. Honestly I would worry so much you can always call a dealer and ask if you need to.

    Oil change?

hi it's me again how do you change the oil filter how much does it cost to have it done in the UK??Oil change?fly me over I will change it for youOil change? You must tell us what you have for a vehicle

    Drain the oil.

    Replace the oil filter

    add new oil

    your done...

    cost ==12.00--15.00

    have a garage do it

    cost=15.00---25.00

depends where you go..Oil change?1)jack up car

    2)remove plug to drain

    3)when done draining replace plug

    4)pour some oil into filter

5)put oil filter back on, only hand tight

6)pour x amount of oil back into car

The oil filter is really cheap US$3-5

Getting an oil change do for you should be US$10-20Oil change?you have to have what they call a oil filter wrench. !st you remove the bolt in the bottom of the oil pan so the oil will drain out. Put a oil pan under it to catch the oil. Why the oil is draining put the filter wrench on the filter and remove. Take your finger and put a little oil on it and rub in on the rubber ring on the new filter. Screw the new filter back on a little bit tighter than hand tight. Screw the bolt back into the oil pan just snug don't over tighten. Remove the oil cap on top of your valve cover under the hood. Put in your oil. Most probably about 5 qt.Oil change?Drain the oil from the engine. (there's a nut on the side of the oil pan or sump to let the oil out)

Simply unscrew the oil filter off the side of the engine. Screw the new one on (put a smear of oil on the gasket first) and add new oil.Oil change? Most UK cars hold between 4 and 5 litres of oil depending on the oil type it could cost as much as 15 sterling but as for the filter you need to say what the car is otherwise the question is meaningless.Regards Mick

  • Is a desiel oil change the same as a gasoline engine oil change?

How different is it to change the oil of a desiel engine versus a gasoline engine? Also what weight oil should I use? And oil filter? Is a desiel oil change the same as a gasoline engine oil change? The oil change process is nearly identical between the two engines. It is best to prime the oil filter prior to installing on the vehicle, this also goes to gasoline engines (some designs do not allow this due to filter position).

As for oil and filter... follow the owners manual. Generally, most diesels use 15w40 oil, brand name filters are recommended.

A second option is to use synthetic diesel oil. It is about twice the cost, but you can double your oil change interval. If you stick to the OEM recommended interval... don't waste your money on synthetic fluids.

The last thing that no one yet mentioned... It is highly recommended you change you fuel filter on every oil change. Your fuel filter is just-as or more important then the engine oil change in a diesel motor. The fuel filter protects all your injection pump and injector components. DO NOT OVERLOOK THE FUEL FILTER, or you will have costly repairs.

Changing the fuel filter (depending on vehicle and engine setup) is usually a easier then the oil change. Simply spin off the filter, prime the new filter and reinstall. This again will be in your owners manual. Is a desiel oil change the same as a gasoline engine oil change?Genrally the same as an oil change on a gasoline engine. Just make sure to %26quot;prime%26quot; the new oil filter before installing it (filling up the oil filter with oil). 15W40 is usually the grade diesel engines require. Is a desiel oil change the same as a gasoline engine oil change?Gas and diesel engine oil works basically the same. However, there is a big difference in the type of oil used in the engines and generally there is a sizeable difference in the quantity of oil used.

The process of changing the oil is the same mechanically so if you've done it on a gasoline engine, you can do it on a diesel one. As for the type and weight of the oil, I suggest you refer this to your owner's manual or if you don't have one, contact a dealer and/or service company for the make/model of engine you have. The same is true for the oil filter as they very from maker to maker.

Good luck and I hope this helps! Is a desiel oil change the same as a gasoline engine oil change?I drive company vehicles that are diesel. I don't know much about what weight and stuff. But, I do know that most diesels can go 4 months or 4,000 miles instead of the 3 and 3 like gasoline engines. Is a desiel oil change the same as a gasoline engine oil change?always go by what the owners manual says to use in if it is fairly new,and use the best filter you can get for it, you didn't mention the make or mode of the engine so its hard to give a good answer on this on,but the owners manual always has the right info in it for your vehicle, follow it ,and you,ll be fine,i own a repair shop,,and i usually go by the manual on the newer vehicles, especially he diesel engines, good luck i hope this help,s.Is a desiel oil change the same as a gasoline engine oil change? There is a little booklet in the glove compartment. Read it and follow their recommendations. Is a desiel oil change the same as a gasoline engine oil change? The oil change in a diesel car is similar to an oil change in a

gasoline car, except in the oil filter and the type of engine oil

used. Depending on the type and make of diesel car, the oil

filter is slightly larger and the grade of engine oil is medium-

heavy type, whereas gasoline cars use much lighter engine

oil, like grades 5W -15W/40.Is a desiel oil change the same as a gasoline engine oil change? The procedure of changing the oil isn't any different. You didn't say what type of engine it is or what it is in (car, tractor) but make sure you have a big bucket or pan, diesels usually hold a lot of oil.

Oil is rated for different engines; oils for gasoline engines will have a rating starting with an S like SF or SL. Diesels need an oil with a C rating like CG or CH-4. Some oils are rated for both but you need to make sure you get one with the C.

No way to tell what weight of oil to use without knowing what kind of engine. If you don't have some kind of owner's manual, you might try to get the brand and number off the oil filter that is already on there, say something like %26quot;NAPA 1243%26quot; and go to your local parts store. They should be able to match the number even if they're not the same brand, and they might be able to recommend a weight of oil too.Is a desiel oil change the same as a gasoline engine oil change?Gas and diesels are not the same (some oils have a %26quot;s%26quot; rating for spark fired engines, some have a %26quot;c%26quot; for compression fired, or a dual rating) diesels are compression fired.

5w-40, 15w-40....... these are the two diesel oils mainly used.... (I'd recommend 5w-40 (say like rotella) in the winter...

Oil filter may be bigger.... but changing its the same.

How can i check my oil filter on my 94' Camry?

i went to ez lube to get an oil change but i noticed that my car was running sluggish after i left. the guy checked the fluids in front of me but im still convinced its something they did. is it possible that i can check my oil filter and how? Thanks in advance:)How can i check my oil filter on my 94' Camry? An oil filter can not make the car run sluggish. Did they play with the air filter like they always do? They might have reassembled the filter housing incorrectly. There's nothing funnier to me than watching those guys under the hood like they know anything about what they're looking at. Stay away from those places. Have someone else see that the air filter was re assembled correctly. How can i check my oil filter on my 94' Camry?Oil filters are not %26quot;checked%26quot;. They are routinely changed with every oil change. Look at it and see if it is clean and new looking. It will be on the bottom side of your engine.

Oil filters should not affect the way your car runs. They will affect the life of your engine.

It is more likely that someone accidentally pulled off a vacuum hose or a spark plug wire. Look under the hood and see if there are any dangling wires or hoses or if something is blocking the air intake on the air filter. See if there is something that just looks out of place. Get to know and love your engine. It is your friend. How can i check my oil filter on my 94' Camry? The wrong oil filter can cause you problems. It can burn out your oil pump but if you want to be sure , just get a factory filter from a dealer, drain the oil into a clean pan, change the filter and then put the oil back into your car. If the car runs like it did before the oil change then you are ok. you can do a visual comparison once the oil filter is out of your car before you install the factory one. It could be smaller or have less holes in the bottom restricting the oil flow. For 5-6 dollars you can save yourself allot of head aches.

How dangerous are metal shavings when they are found in your oil filter?

I bought a Chevy HHR in May and when I had my oil changed, the mechanic showed me metal shavings that were in my filter. I took the filter to the service center of the dealership to show them and was told that the shavings did not look like they came from my engine and that it was not uncommon to have this happen in new cars. They also told me that since there was no noise or loss of compression in my engine, that I should not worry. This is my first new car that I have ever purchased and I don't want problems down the road. Has anyone else had a similar experience? How dangerous are metal shavings when they are found in your oil filter? It's not unusual for metal shavings to appear in the first oil change or two, since your engine is brand new and the machined parts shed a bit of metal. That's why you need to be good about getting that first oil change quickly for a brand new car. I recommend a change after the first one thousand miles, and then you can switch to the recommended schedule. How dangerous are metal shavings when they are found in your oil filter?veryHow dangerous are metal shavings when they are found in your oil filter? How about like sand in your tooth paste? How dangerous are metal shavings when they are found in your oil filter? That does seem a touch odd. But if its the first oil change I suppose it might be a possibility that things fit together too tight and are creating those shavings. If you're not loosing any compression or anything, don't hear a knock, ping or any other unusual sounds AND don't see it again next time, I wouldn't worry too much about it.

    Besides, with a problem like that if its going to be something big it's going to be something big soon, and it'll still be under warranty and you can take it back to the same dealer mechanic and be like %26quot;See? I told you there was something wrong!%26quot;

    -Duo

-DuoHow dangerous are metal shavings when they are found in your oil filter? The dealer is handing you a load of crap. While some metal particles are normal in new engines (which is why it is important to change the oil after 500 miles), %26quot;shavings%26quot; are not. This is an indication that some component of the engine is wearing excessively and will probably fail (probably just after the warranty expires).

The HHR is not a low-rent vehicle. I would insist on the dealership giving you a formal, written explanation for the shavings so that when the engine implodes next spring you will have the basis for a suit. How dangerous are metal shavings when they are found in your oil filter?your ok manHow dangerous are metal shavings when they are found in your oil filter? Some shavings after a first oil change is normal.

Your car is covered under the lemon laws in your state - I would go to another dealer and ignore the ******** who tried to scare you into spending big money. How dangerous are metal shavings when they are found in your oil filter? If your car is running OK then the metal shavings could have been left in the engine from new %26amp; the filter has stopped them going into the pistons or anywhere else %26amp; causing major problems. Take your filter off in a couple of weeks %26amp; check it is clean If not go back to the garage to have it checked out but I think you will have no more problemsHow dangerous are metal shavings when they are found in your oil filter?Use a magnet to see if this is aluminum or metal(steel)

If this is aluminum I wouldn't worry,it could be just pistons wearing into the cylinders.

    BUT

If this is steel than you may have a default bearing(BAD)

it may take many miles before you start hearing a noise but it's best to cure the problem before it's too late. How dangerous are metal shavings when they are found in your oil filter?he is correct ,, if you have not lost compression then that rules out any piston , ring , valve or lifter damage,,, you have to remember that even though you have oil in the engine,, you still have metal to metal contact,,, clearance on some parts are as little as .001%26quot; which is a very minimal amount,, and that breaks down the oils lubricating properties (known as viscosity --- the ability to withstand heat and thermal breakdown),, this is a natural occurance throught out the life of your vehicle,, thats why its so important to change your oil regularly,, about every 3mos or 3000 miles,, because the metal deposits in the oil will %26quot;score%26quot; (severely scratch) your clyinderwalls and piston rings, causing blowby and loss of compression, which would result in eratic running of you vehicle and significant reduction in gas mileage,, also, make sure to add one Quart of either Rislone additive or Stp oil treatment after each oil change, this will help to reduce sediment deposits and keep your valves and rings clean !!!How dangerous are metal shavings when they are found in your oil filter? On your next oil change take a sample and send it out for analysis. How dangerous are metal shavings when they are found in your oil filter?your bearings are going if they havent gone already

    2000 honda civic-oil change???

Hey everyone car question again.... Is it best to have a mechanic do the oil change, or can my husband do it, he's not a mechanic but he does change the oil in his 95 saturn, is my honda that much of a difference ? thanks for your help, oh yeah and also change the oil filter how hard is it to do all that?2000 honda civic-oil change???A mechanic or your husband. Pretty much the same thing! As long you know how to get the oil out it's fine. The oil filter sometime you can get it off with your hands. There's a tool to get it off but it's useless (for me anyway)! If it doesn't come off take screwdriver and a hammer and crack the plastic on the oil filter and you'll get inside and it's easy to take off. To put it on you just tight it with your hands and it should be all good until your next oil change :D2000 honda civic-oil change???it is easy to change the oil,but then i have to find a safe way to get rid of the old stuff.for me it's best to deal with a mech2000 honda civic-oil change???No your husband can do it. It is also cheaper. An oil filter is not hard at all. You just need an oil filter wrench and the filter itself is only around 6 bucks. You will only need about 4-5 quarts of oil. Just figure out what wieght you need and go ahead and have him do it. cant mess up too bad. lol. And again like a said doing it yourself is a HUGE money saver!!!2000 honda civic-oil change???the honda is easier than the saturn so he should be able to handle it.2000 honda civic-oil change???common simple stuff. about like doing laundry.2000 honda civic-oil change???very easy to do even for us men!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!2000 honda civic-oil change???For as long as you have all the correct tools, on changing the oil, oil filter and fuel filter. thats OK.2000 honda civic-oil change???changing the oil in your civic is just as easy as in the Saturn. • Is it possible to drive a car w/o an oil filter? How did it fall off? Why? who's fault?

I went for an oil change about 10 days ago. My oil light came on and my car stalled. When I had it towed to the nearest auto station, they told me my car did not have a filiter. What went wrong? My engine was damaged and now it is sitting in the shop where I had the oil change done. They told me that their insurance company has to come and investigate. Are they at fault? How does a filter just %26quot;fall off%26quot;? HOw can I get this resolved? Are they responsible for repairng/getting me a new engineIs it possible to drive a car w/o an oil filter? How did it fall off? Why? who's fault? There are only three reasons that an oil filter would fall off.

    A) Defective filter

    B) Wrong filter installed on the car

    C) Improper installation

Unless you provided your own oil filter, the shop is going to be liable not only for the repair of your vehicle, but also for your costs for replacement transportation while the car is being repaired. They should also pay for the towing bill, and the bill at the shop where the car was towed!!Is it possible to drive a car w/o an oil filter? How did it fall off? Why? who's fault?they installed the wrong filter .i just ran into a pathfinder with the same problem the used a filter for a diffent make engine .there is a slight possibility of a defective filter but unlikely.or just a shoddy job, hope this helpsIs it possible to drive a car w/o an oil filter? How did it fall off? Why? who's fault? If all is true, document everything and never go to a %26quot;quick lube%26quot; service shop again! Apparently the mechanic that worked on your car is on drugs and needs treatment. Is it possible to drive a car w/o an oil filter? How did it fall off? Why? who's fault? It is possible, but not for long. Obviously all the oil drains or is pumped out through where the oil filter attaches. I'd say the place that changed the oil filter is at fault, but proving that is an entirely different matter (especially ten days later). Is it possible to drive a car w/o an oil filter? How did it fall off? Why? who's fault?ever who installed the filter may not have tightened it back up right ,that puts them responsible for the damage to it,if it needs another engine in it they will be responsible for seeing that it is fixed back right, good luck with it.Is it possible to drive a car w/o an oil filter? How did it fall off? Why? who's fault?it's 100% thier fault they did thatIs it possible to drive a car w/o an oil filter? How did it fall off? Why? who's fault?well sounds pretty cut and dry that they messed up. Unfortunately don't expect to get out of this for nothing. All the insurance or the oil change shop is entitled to do is get a motor equivalent to what you had. So if you had 100 miles on it they will get an engine from a junk yard with 100k miles on it. If you want a brand new engine forget about it. You, unfortunately, may even have some out pocket expense. It is just the way it works with insurance companies. Just remember that mistakes happen and it is only a car. If they cooperate and give you a loaner until the car is fixed and do fix the car then that is all you can ask for really. It is unfortunate or you and the oil change shop. It will definitely hurt their reputation and also may hurt your wallet too.
